Goodbye Winter!

As we say goodbye to winter, and begin looking forward to warmer weather, it's a great time to think about food, and healthy eating.

Movingtoday.com suggests the following tips:
  • Fill up on colorful fruits and veggies.

  • Eat whole grains whenever possible.

  • Choose healthy fats.

  • Avoid eating too much sugar or salt.

  • Balance the portions of protein, grains, and veggies in a meal.

  • Cook your own meals so you can control the nutritional content.

  • Plan your meals ahead of time so you don’t resort to fast food.

  • I would add to that list, buying and eating fresh, locally grown foods instead of frozen, canned, or fast food.  Here in the Silicon Valley, we're surrounded by great sources of fresh, healthy, local food.   You can purchase almost all of your food fresh, and local...  Everything from delicious fruits, nuts and veggies to grass fed beef and organically raised chicken, rabbit, and Talapia.

When you purchase your food fresh and local, you're helping your body, your budget, and your community.
